Jeremy at Work

Jeremy has been professionally designing one thing or another for over 1.5 decades. He’s worked successfully in every medium over those years, but his true love is the motion picture. And we don’t mean “movies,” though he does love movies—rather, Jeremy prefers to spend his days immersed in video and motion graphics, applying his creative vision to what lives and moves, from the trade show environment to websites to mobile advertising.

At MarketPlace, Jeremy has designed client logos and developed websites, laid out hundreds of presentations, and donned a hairnet to shoot video in food labs and factories. He happily pursues client work wherever it takes him, but especially so if it lets him meet a new dog, or takes him near a new barbecue joint.

A MINI HISTORY

Jeremy graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1999, where he studied graphic design, advanced technical studies, marketing, and gaming (which was unassigned homework, tbh). Having spent many successful years as a web designer and Director of Video Production, he brought his pixel-grabbing skills to MarketPlace, where he now provides creative, thoughtful digital design to both B2B and consumer partners. He has received industry accolades including Healthcare Advertising Awards, TAM Awards, and W3 Awards for web design.

Jeremy at Home

When not creating award-winning digital work for our clients, Jeremy likes to gently set aside his shoes, adjust into comfortable furniture, and hone his hand-eye coordination (playing video games), enhance his appreciation of film (watching movies), or whet his taste for competition (watching the Bears, the Bulls, or the Cards).

RECENTLY PINNED

I first noticed the work, specifically concert posters, of illustrator John Vogl in my dentist’s office a few years ago. Yeah, I know, weird place to see illustrated concert posters. But it’s not weird when you know that my dentist is the father of illustrator John Vogl. Dr. Vogl proudly displays quite a few of his son’s pieces, as well he should. I’ve loved to draw as long as I can remember, and I’m often very envious of those with the talent of John Vogl. In spite of my jealousy, I still admire his work every time I make that dreaded trip to the dentist.

Memorable Meal

Any meal that involves steak is inherently memorable for Jeremy because steak.

The life of a designer is a life of fight. Fight against the ugliness. Just like a doctor fights against disease. For us, the visual disease is what we have around, and what we try to do is cure it somehow with design.
