Leslie at Work

Leslie is responsible for the behind the scenes activity at MarketPlace, making her the master of the multitask: accounting, invoicing, payroll, supplies, general office coziness, human resources, travel arrangements, scheduling, hostessing, repairing, hall monitoring, 80s music listening, etc.

Basically, we call Leslie in to help with just about everything but drawing. It’s what she’s always done; she loves challenges, new days, and new opportunities to remind every one of us at the office that we wouldn’t survive without her.

A MINI HISTORY

Before coming to MarketPlace, Leslie wound the paths of the medical field, from assisting videographers who filmed surgeries to medical billing. She came to MarketPlace after eleven years as an office manager elsewhere, and has been here since 2007—longer than anyone but the founders. Every company she has worked with since moving to St. Louis has moved locations. Something about Leslie just screams cardboard boxes.

Leslie at Home

If left in the office alone, Leslie will pump her fist in the air and turn on the heavy metal (music, not industrial office machines). After all these few years, Leslie is still playing softball without major injury. She learned how to surf recently (and has the photography to prove it). The instructor called her a natural. She’s now working on a plan to parlay her Bingo calling skills into an actual payday so she can retire to a surf community.

RECENTLY PINNED

Softball season ended recently, and I miss it already. I won’t bore you with all the details of what I like about softball, but I will say that it’s as much about what happens before and after the game as anything that occurs on the field. For now, my glove is cleaned and tucked away and ready for a long winter nap.

Memorable Meal

As a home chef, Leslie loves to experiment, so newly memorable meals are always on the horizon. She mastered a great Pho Bo and has a knack for making seafood, from live lobsters to whatever is available as a special this week at Seafood City.

It’s a hundred and six miles to Chicago, we’ve got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark, and we’re wearing sunglasses. Hit it.
